Senior Yakshagana artiste Sadhu Kottari collapses on stage, dies of cardiac arrest

Kota, Jan 05, 2021:     Sadhu Kottari, a senior Yakshagana artiste of the Mandarthi Mela   died  of a cardiac arrest soon after he collapsed while performing on stage at Kalbettu near Kajralli in Shiriyara during the wee hours of January  5, Tuesday. He was 58.

 

Babu Kottari was the main artiste of the Mandarthi Mela and was enacting the role of Magadha in the Yakshagana  Prasanga  "Mahakali Magadendra" when he developed   severe chest pain while performing at around 3 am.  He was immediately taken away from the stage and was rushed to a private hospital  at Brahmavar. However, he had breathed his last by then.

Sadhu Kottari was residing with his family at Barkur and had served the Yakshagana field for the past four decades.
