Mangaluru, Feb 26, 2016 : Duplication can be avoided and can be considered a violation only when patent is filed for Intellectual Property Rights, said Gokuldas Nayak, Joint Director of District Industries Centre .
He was speaking after inaugurating a one-day awareness programme on ’Intellectual Property Rights’ organised by the Mangaluru branch of MSME Development Institute at Hotel Deepa Comforts on February 26, Friday.
Pointing out that proposals for patents and copyrights are very less, he added that this led to violation and duplication. The only way to avoid this is to go for patenting intellectual property, he added.
He also stated that the Government initiatives like Make in India, Digital India and Skill India go a long way in encouraging entrepreneurship in youth.
The function was presided over by S N Rangaprasad, Director, MSME Development Institute, Bengaluru. In his address he said enterprises can get help in the process of filing for patents at the three intellectual property rights cells in Karnataka. Half the cost of the process is borne by the Government through the Karnataka Council for Technological Upgradation. Only micro, small and medium enterprises can get assistance, he added.
K Socrates, Deputy Director, MSME-DI, Mangaluru, G Nagaraja, Assistant Director and others were present .
