Mangaluru, Oct 16, 2015: Veteran Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary offered ’Urulu Seve’ at the Shree Gokarnanatha Temple at Kudroli on October 16, Friday to seek divine intervention to shower abundant rainfall on the coastal districts and also to pray for good thoughts to prevail upon the government so that it would drop the controversial Yettinahole Project.
Seventy year old Poojary offered the Urulu Seve to Lord Gokarnanatha along with several others including Corporator Radhakrishna. He later offered special pooja at the shrine.
Speaking on the occasion, Poojary said the implementation of Yettinahole Project would surely result in drought in the coastal region particularly in Mangaluru City and added that the project would turn the district into a desert. He also stated that he has offered special pooja to ensure that the project was not implemented.
Poojary further observed that all people of this nation should pray for good rainfall. TK Sudhir, Harikrishna Bantwal, Ajith Kumar Malady, management committee members of Kudroli Shrine and many others were present.
Later, Poojary addressed a press meet and asked all those leaders from the district who have been invited to discuss the Yettinahole Project with the CM on October 19 to voice the concern of the people of the district and prevail upon the Chief Minister to drop the project.
To a question if he would attend the meeting, Poojary replied in the negative and said he has not been invited.
To another question as to whether the demand for a separate Tulu state would crop up if the government fails to drop the project, Poojary hoped that things would not turn that way.
