Security measures in place for May 12 polls : City Police Commissioner

Mangaluru, May 08, 2018: City Police Commissioner Vipul Kumar has said that the Police Department has  taken all necessary measures for the peaceful conduct of the May 12 Assembly elections.

Speaking to reporters at his office here on May 8, Tuesday he said there are a total of  877 booths in the Mangaluru, Mangaluru South, Mangaluru North and Moodbidri constituencies coming under the Commissionerate limits. A total of 26 checkposts  including six  on the inter-state borders have been set up. Fourteen flying squads are also functional, he informed.

Referring to security measures, he said  11 contingents of CAPF, other personnel including   Home Guards  all totalling 2,700 have been deployed.  A total of 1,909 arms have been deposited, he said adding police are keeping a strict vigil on 2,756 rowdy elements.
