Shivaji practiced secular values, which are the soul of our country. His royal court as well as his army comprised of people from all walks of life including backward people, Dalits and Muslims. War and fighting is a credo of the Kshatriya people. In his wars, Shivaji fought only against his enemies and not because they belonged to any particular classification of people. He even executed his own relatives for treason. He killed Afsal Khan only due to enmity and not because of his religion. Even 500 years back he has conceived ideas of democracy and swarajya, he said.

Former MLAs Vinay Kumar Sorake and Shakunthala Shetty presided over the meeting.
