Section 144 imposed in Suratkal

Mangalore, Feb 9: The Suratkal police have imposed Section 144 in Suratkal on Feb 9, Tuesday, following reports of minor incidents of communal strife in Suratkal. Tension prevails. All the shops and commercial establishments were ordered to close down.

 

Tension continued after minor incidents since few days. People belonging to 2 different communities were assaulted during the previous week. Six people were inured in different incidents. On Tuesday, the head of a cow was discovered on the premises of the Kanteri Dhoomavathi Temple, located close to Suratkal Market. Later, miscreans dumbed a pig head in front of the Juma Masjith at Agara Gundi, Baikampadi. The incidents added more tension to the prevailing situation in Suratkal and surrounding area.

 

 



According to the complaint, the miscreants have come in a bike and fling a cow’s heads into the temple premises on February 8, Monday at 10.30 pm.

Suratkal police said additional forces have been deployed to the area to maintain law and order.
