Second phase of ’Swachh Mangaluru’ gets underway

Mangaluru, Oct 6, 2015 : Second phase of ’Swachh Mangaluru’, initiated by Ramakrishna Mission, was inaugurated by Swami Muktidanandaji, Trustee, Ramakrishna Mutt and Mission and president of Ramakrishna Ashrama (Mysuru), at a function held at Karangalpady Oct 4.

MRPL MD Kumar H flagged off the 21st cleanliness drive. The auto stand at Karangalpady was cleaned, renovated and beautified with a new roof. A board containing the messages of awareness on Swachh Mangaluru was also placed.   The existing pedestal around the big peepal tree at Karangalpady was in a dilapidated condition. Volunteers of the Swachh Mangaluru renovated it and it was inaugurated on the occasion.

About 400 volunteers, devotees and well-wishers of the Ashram took part in the 21st cleanliness drive. The volunteers from different institutes like Sahyadri Engineering College, Nitte Group of Colleges, Government First Grade College, Car street, employees of MRPL and others participated.

The cleanliness drive was followed by a seminar on the Swachh Bharath.   Swami Veereshananda Saraswathi, president, Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashrama, Tumakuru, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik and others participated.
