Sec 144, Prohibitory orders in city extended till November 23

Mangaluru, Nov 18, 2016:  As tension prevailed in areas under Konaje and Ullal police station limits, despite increased security, the Mangaluru city police have extended prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPc till November 23. However, prohibitory orders will not disturb a common man’s life.


M Chandra Sekh...M Chandra Sekhar, city police commissioner said that prohibitory orders have been extended as some of the miscreants in Ullal and Konaje, considered as communally sensitive areas, are trying to disturb peace through assaults and pelting stones on religious houses.

The prohibitory orders were imposed this month during the Tipu Jayanti celebration.  Now, it had to be extended as there were four incidents of assaults on youths belonging to two different communities in the past one week and a stone pelting incident took place on Monday night.

Two held in attempt to murder case : Two persons accused in an attempt to murder case at Bantwal near here, have been arrested. Chandrahas and Dinesh gained illegal entry into Aboobaker’s shop in Kanyana and tried to murder him with lethal weapons on November 13. However, Aboobaker escaped the attack and the accused fled from the spot. This incident has also created tension in the region and security was beefed up. Police who have formed a special team, nabbed two persons on Wednesday and produced them before the court.
