Sea wall for 155 crore to be constructed in Ullal, Minister UT Khader

Mangaluru, Jan 11, 2019: Years of sea erosion causing serious  problems in Ullal constituency would possibly end,  with Rs 155.09 crore being sanctioned under the Asian Development Bank (ADB) scheme for construction of a sea wall.


UT-Khader.DK District In-charge Minister U T Khader, told media ; he said that the second phase of the sea wall construction will begin from Subhashnagar,

The construction follows close on the heels of the construction of a wall at Kotepura.

“The detailed project report (DPR) has been submitted and tenders for the construction of a 450 metre long sea wall at a total cost of Rs 21.09 crore will be floated soon. The next phase of building a sea wall from Someshwar to Talapady will begin soon, at an estimated cost of Rs 134 crore,” said the minister.

Funds reserved for differently abled people will be hiked to 5%. The reservation of the development funds in urban local bodies at present is 3% said Khader, who is also Minister for Urban Development.

All panchayats to corporations throughout the state will have to increase their development funds for the welfare of the differently abled citizens, the minister added.

Khader informed that in order to decongest the traffic, the stretch from Thokkottu to Melkar was being widened with funds released by the government.

“The stretch from Deralakatte to Nitte University’s building was widened at a total cost of Rs three crore. The government had sanctioned Rs five crore to initiate work on the four-laning of the stretch to Kutthar junction,” said the junction.
