Sea erosion intensifies in Chitrapura, Kulai area

Mangaluru, Aug 02, 2019:  Sea erosion has intensified in Chitrapura Kulai area  near Suratkal. There is also a fear that the  Chitrapura road may be washed away by  the mighty tidal waves. While a house in the area is in danger, sea erosion has also intensified near Mukka.

 

Boulders have been used as temporary sea walls at several places right from Panambur to Suratkal and Mukka as the fisheries road here is in danger. As another temporary measure sand bags will also be placed.

Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Shetty visited  Chitrapura on Thursday to   have a firsthand account of the problem. He also spoke to the DC on the need to  initiate preventive measures.

The MLA said if the need arose officials will decide on shifting the residents of the area who are facing danger.
