Scrap shop in Bunder catches fire

Mangalore, May 21, 2012: A scrap shop on Ansari road in Bunder caught fire at around 11:00 a.m. on May 21, Monday.

The scrap shop is owned by one Mr. Narayan and it is located on grounds belonging to the Mangalore City Corporation. The local people had asked Narayan to vacate the area several times as it was obstructing children from using the ground as a playground. The local people had also lodged a complaint with the corporator Mamatha Sanil some time back.

The fire brigade rushed to the spot and doused the flames. Narayan claimed to have lost property worth Rs. 10 lakh in the fire. The Bunder police have registered a case.
