Addressing  the protestors, Member of the Association Sunil Kumar Bajal said that  soon after the Trasi incident Police have begun imposing heavy fines and false cases on the drivers and it has been sleepless nights for the drivers ever since. Recently Kundapur police created a nuisance by seizing school vehicle along with the children which created panic among parents, he added.

He also said that  school drivers are  being viewed suspiciously at present.  The condition of the roads dotted with potholes can also be a reason for the accidents but the administration is showing negligence in solving the problem,, he alleged.

School vehicles need to provide parking facility  for vehicles in their school ground, he said and  also urged that all false cases registered against drivers should be withdrawn. The rule to paint  in yellow all vehicles carrying school children should also be dropped he added. Bajal also suggested that school administrations should conduct meetings in the presence of drivers once in every three months. Children’s safety committee need to be formed in every school, he demanded.

A School vehicle Drivers’ Convention will be held on 30th June at Don Bosco Hall in Mangaluru, he informed.

President of the Association Umesh Shetty, Members Sathish Poojary, Gangadhar Rai and others were present.
