Saxophone wizard Kadri Gopalnath passes away

Mangaluru, October 11, 2019: Noted saxophone exponent Kadri Gopalnath passed away at a private hospital here early on October 11.

Family sources said that Gopalnath was ill for the past three months. He was admitted to the hospital on Thursday night.

The Padmashree awardee is survived by his wife and two sons of which Manikanth Kadri is a noted music director. The family is waiting for his another son who is in Kuwait to arrive here for completing the last rites at his home in Padavinangady.

Gopalnath was born in Mittakere in Sajeepa Mooda village in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada in 1950. He learnt playing Carnatic music through saxophone from N Gopalakrishna Iyer.
