Sand problem : Jaya Karnataka organisation says it will boycott polls

Udupi, Mar 12, 2019: The Udupi District Committee of the Jaya Karnataka organisation has threatened to  boycott the  upcoming Lok Sabha elections in protest against the failure of the Union and State Governments to solve the sand problem of Udupi district.

Addressing a protest organised by the district Committee of Jaya Karnataka in front of the Martyrs Memorial at Ajjarkad on March 12, Tuesday,   Satish Poojary Saligrama, District President of the organisation, spoke about the decision to boycott the polls and added that the organisation members would sensitize the people on the issue through a door-to-door visit.

He said the administration has not responded to the sand issue despite several protests.

 He said the  sitting Udupi MP Shobha Karandlaje has done nothing for the development of the district and has failed to respond to the problems. Our organisation will not support her if she decides to contest, he added.

Several leaders of the organisation including Srinivas Shettigar, Sharath Shetty, Nityananda Amin took part in the protest.
