Sand policies for DK, Udupi districts will be exclusive: Madhwaraj

Udupi, Sep 05, 2016: The Udupi  district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj said that the state government would embark on separate sand policy for the coastal districts. 

The minister was speaking after giving away various facilities of the development programmes introduced by the government. Madhwaraj said that the chief minister has instructed the appointment of a counsel to argue on behalf of the government at the Chennai Green Tribunal, to repeal the stay order imposed against the sand mining in Udupi district. "There would be a separate sand mining policy for coastal districts and the chief minister has promised to look into the feasibility of relaxing the stringent measures imposed on sand mining," he added.

He said that government is committed to ensure the title deeds for the beneficiaries under 94C, Gomal and Kumki. He said the state government aims at offering power facilities to all houses in the state and warned that any panchayat development officer who creates problems to ensure the facilities under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, would be punished for the negligence. Each house is entitled to own power, he added.

As many as Rs 3.23-crore and Rs one-crore worth construction works were inaugurated on the occasion, which include the veterinary hospital building and Bapuji Seva Kendra facilities at Kavradi and Amparu. As many as 20 title deeds in Kandlur and 30 in Amparu were offered on the occasion. Eighty-six beneficiaries in Kavradi and sixty three beneficiaries in Amparu were given sites to construct houses. Under Ashraya Loan Waiving off scheme, as many as 57 beneficiaries in Kavradi and 80 in Amparu were benefited. Under the National Calamity Relief Funds, the family members of Maruthi Devadiga, who was washed away in a river, were given Rs four lakh.

The Primary Health Centre of 452.0 square meters at Belve was inaugurated on the occasion. It is built at the cost of Rs 119.66 lakh.
