Sand art for poll promotion on Malpe beach

Udupi, Apr 16, 2018 : The Udupi district administration has taken up several programmes under SVEEP to create awareness among the public about casting votes.

The administration organised sand art expo at Malpe. Sand art with slogans like “Varusha Nooru, Mathadanada Sambhrama Joru,” “Kulumeya Yettu, Mathadanada Votu,” “Indu Nanna Mathadana, Munde Ninna Mathadana,” “Parishudhha Halinanthe Erali Namma Mathadana,” “Yentha Kelasa Idru Vote Hakuvudanna Mareyabeda,” “Vote Padere Undu Bega Poyi,” “Ondagihevu Naavu Mathadanakkagi… Hosa Nadigagi…Jotheyagi” was appealing to the viewers. The voting finger with indelible ink was highlighted. There was also a sculpture of the Vidhana Soudha, which was eight feet in height and 15 feet in width.

The sand sculptures, which are carved by artists Manipal Srinath, Ravi Heerebettu, Chandappa Ammunje and Raghavendra Ameen, emphasised on the importance of voting in the democratic setup, which is very sacred since it offers the citizens to choose their own representatives. It is the highest power in an egalitarian society. The art pieces also highlighted the importance of the voting without coming under the pressure of any bribe.

Zilla Panchayat CEO Shivanand Kapashi briefed on the use of VVPATs, which ensures transparency in the voting process.
