Mangalore, June 24, 2013 : Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily has stressed the need to check the growing menace of drugs and alcoholism in and around college campuses.
Speaking to media men during his visit to Manjeshwar on June 23, Sunday, Moily referred to the gang rape of a medical student of Manipal University and said all efforts should be made to ensure the sanctity of an educational hub is protected.
Stating that he had already spoken to State Home Minister on the issue, Moily exuded confidence that the state government would handle the situation effectively.
On this occasion Moily also said no effort should be made to shield accused in such cases.Referring to the fluctuating oil prices, Moily said though oil prices has been reduced four times during his tenure, the fluctuation continues due to rupee devaluation.
