However, on Thursday, the ATS had opposed Samad’s bail plea with regard to an arms case of 2009. Samad, who as sentenced to a judicial custody of 14 days, had sought bail on grounds that there are no serious allegations against him. The court hearing on the bail plea is scheduled for June 9.

Mubin Solkar, Samad’s lawyer, said that the other three accused in the arms case are out of bail; therefore even Samad should be granted bail. The lawyer even accused the ATS of falsely implicating Samad and wanted to know why the ATS had failed to arrest him last year if his name had figured in the investigation.
