Salaam murder case - police arrest Pundalik Naik

Bhatkal. Sep 16, 2011 : The Kumta police have arrested Pundalik Naik of Shirali in connection with the murder of Abdul Salaam alias Medical Salaam, the vice president of Jali Gram Panchayat (GP) and have remanded him to police custody.

 

SalamIt may be recalled that Salaam went missing on September 6 and that his body was found on Sirsi Ghat Sunday. The Kumta police had gone investigating when villagers complained of a foul smell in the area.

Shrikanth, the Kumta police inspector, said that police suspect the involvement of 3 – 4 persons in this case and that the murder might be related to the money-lending business.

Salaam had left Sirsi in Naik’s car at 9:00 a.m., after which his family was unable to contact him.

When his body was found, his brother-in-law identified it by the clothes he wore and other identification marks.

Salaam was a resident of Bhatkal.
