Sahyadri college unveils all-terrain vehicle-Arions

Mangaluru, Feb 17, 2015: Arions-an All-Terrain Vehicle built by Sahyadri SAE Collegiate Club of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management was unveiled by Volvo Buses MD V R V Sriprasad at Sahyadri open ground at Sahyadri Campus.  Sriprasad appreciated the efforts of Arions and stressed that the result is important but focus is more important, and learning is most important.


The Arions


Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management Chairman Manjunath Bhandary expressed his heart filled gratitude for what the students have done college in spite of  the hardships.

Arions, meaning ’immortal horse’ a symbol of speed, was designed by a team of 22 enthusiasts. The Sahyadri SAE Collegiate club started in February 2014, with a membership of 115 students. The club immediately applied to participate in the Baja SAE India 2015. The team, named "The Arions," worked hard to qualify through the virtaul presentation round held on August 2, 2014 in Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad. Baja SAE is an intercollegiate design competition run by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The goal in Baja SAE racing event is to design, build and race off-road vehicles that can withstand the rough terrain. The dynamic and static event will take place at Natrax, Natrip facility Pithampur, Indore from February 19 to 22.

The team comprises of Gautham Nayak, Johnson Tellis, Nishanth Kottary, Bhavik Das, Madhukeshwara B., Ankush Vishwakarma, Fenil Mehta, Jerin David Varghese, Shine Jees, Akhil Shaju, Tito Thomas, AmodKamat, JaisonMelcomCrasta, Kaushik Chandra, Mohiyuddin Al Muhsin, Gokul K Nair, Sachin Kumar Nair, Aishwarya Rai, Chithra K, S V Poornima, NareshBhat¸Chethan R. Naik.
