Saalumarada Thimmakka releases ‘Hasiru Thorana’ in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Aug 22, 2015 : Famed environmentalist who is known for  her immense love for planting trees-  Saalumarada Thimmakka is in the city. She participated in a ceremony at the St Joseph College, Jeppu and released an anthology of environmental poems ‘Hasiru Thorana’ authored by the students  of the college.

 

 

 

On this occasion, Saalumarada Thimmakka was  honoured. Santosh Kulal of Isiri Arts also gifted a painting of Thimmakka to the environmentalist.

Shreesha Kumar, Lecturer in Sanskrit in  Vivekananda College, Puttur who spoke on the occasion, stressed the need for people of Dakshina Kannada to derive inspiration from Saalumarada Thimmakka. He also urged them to raise voice against destruction caused to environment. If one needs to lead a healthy life then we need to support great personalities like Thimmakka who have dedicated their lives for the cause of environment, he added.

 Fr Lawrence D’Souza, Indiramma Belur, author of the book ‘Saalumarada Saradaarini Thimmakka’,    Dinesh Holla, Convenor of Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya,  Umesh BN, adopted son of Thimmakka and others were present at the function.
