SSLC exams start today, an auspicious start

Mangaluru, Mar 21, 2019: District administrations of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have made all possible preparation for the SSLC examinations which will be conducted in the state from today March 21st to April 4th.

To insure transparent examinations and evaluations CCTV cameras have been installed at the examination centres and at the venues  where the answer papers will be stored.

Dakshina Kannad will have 31,192 students for the exams of which 16,645 are boys and 14,457 are girls. Altogether there are 95 examination centres of which 90 are normal centre while the remaining 5 are private centres. Of all the examination centres there are 17 in Bantwal taluk, 13 in Belthangady, Mangaluru North and South zones has a total of 21 centres, Moodbidri has 5, Puttur has 12 and Sullia has 6 examination centres.

In Mangaluru, the least number of students are in Belthangady taluk at 3,491, Bantwal has 5,625, Sullia has 2,030m Puttur has 5,750 students who will be attempting the exams. In the rural division, Puttur taluk has the highest number of students attempting the examination. Mangaluru taluk has the highest number SSLC examinees. Mangaluru north has 3.384 boys and 2,737 girls making a total of 6.121 students; Mangaluru south has a total number of 5,717 students of whom 2,839 are boys and 2,878 are girls.

In Udupi district :  14, 214 students will appear for examination. Of them 7,371 are boys and 6,483 are girls. Of the regular students 6,588 are boys , 6,515 are girls and hence a total of 13,103 students will be attempting the exams. Altogether 404 students will be attempting the exams privately of whom 294 are boys while 110 are girls. There will be 53 students who will be reattempting the exam of who 403 are boys and 180 are girls. 128 students will be re-attempting the exams privately of who 88 are boys and 38 are girls.

There are 51 examination centres in the district of which 49 are normal and 2 are private. In Byndoor, 2,092 students will be attempting at 8 centres, 2,528 students at 8 centres at Kundapur, 2,927 students at 11 centres in Brahmavar, 3,749 students at 15 centres in Udupi and 2,918 students at 9 centres in Karkala zone.

CCTV cameras have been installed at 438 examination centres. Strong room facility has been made at Udupi Christian High School to keep the answer papers from examination centres which are considered to be sensitive and very sensitive.

Precaution :   The administration has already taken proper action to prevent the occurrence of any uneventful incident during the time of the examinations. All Xerox shops in the vicinity of the examination centres are have been directed to close their stores one hour before the commencement of the examination and to remain closed until the entire period. Prohibitory orders have been implemented within 200 meters of the examination centres. All hopes are on the human values now.
