SDPI stages protest; accuses cops of arresting innocents

Mangaluru, Nov 14, 2016: A protest was staged by the  activists of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI)  in front of the Konaje Police Station on November 13, Sunday accusing the police of apprehending innocents in connection with a murder attempt case at Munnur and the case of stabbing two youth at Manjanady.

During the course of protest there was heated arguments between the police and the protestors following which additional personnel from KSRP  were summoned to the spot. Police also resorted to a mild lathi charge  as the protest was held defying the prohibitory orders under Section 144 clamped  in the area following the recent  untoward incidents.

ACP Shruti spoke to the protestors and sought the co-operation of everyone in  investigating the case. She also stated that a few persons have been taken to custody for interrogation.

City Police Commissioner Chandra  Sekhar and other police officials  also visited the place.
