SDPI leader murder case: Five in police custody

Bantwal, June 24, 2017:  Police investigating into the case of murder of SDPI Ammunje unit Chief Ashraf Kalayi, have taken over five  persons into custody and are interrogating them to gather vital clues regarding the case.


Ashraf KalayiIn a statement on Saturday, Superintendent of Police C.H. Sudheer Kumar Reddy said five persons were taken to custody on Saturday morning and produced before the jurisdictional magistrate court. The accused were being taken to police custody for further questioning, he said. Efforts were being made to find the remaining accused, he said.


Meanwhile, Rapid Action Force has arrived in Kalladka town  to  handle the situation and to maintain strict vigil in the town. The situation has now returned to normalcy with shops and business establishments opening as usual at Kalladka, B C Road, Melkar and other places.


Here it is worth mentioning that prohibitory orders are in force here since the past four weeks and that despite prohibitory orders several cases of untoward incidents had taken place.


The RAF personnel even conducted a march past at Farangipete, Melkar and Kalladka on Friday  to instil confidence in the people.


Senior police officials have visited the  town.   Separate police teams  have also been formed to oversee the security arrangements and also to probe  the recent untoward incidents.
