SDPI leader brutally murdered in Benjanapadavu

Bantwal, June 21, 2017: In a shocking case of  murder reported from Benjanapadavu on June 21, Wednesday,  an SDPI leader was hacked to death by a group of assailants at Benjanapadavu  on June 21, Wednesday.

The deceased person Ashraf Kalayi was the President of the Ammunje  Zonal unit of SDPI.   Sources said a few people had hired his autorickshaw asking him to take them to Benjanapadavu.  By the time the autorickshaw reached the  destination, those in the auto hacked him with swords resulting in his death.

It has been gathered that the assailants were masked and had  killed Ashraf owing to some previous rivalry.

The murder has sparked tension in Benjanapadavu. Meanwhile, shops in Melkar and Kalladka too downed their shutters as news of the  murder spread like wildfire.

As it was SDPI Foundation Day today, he had hoisted the  party flag at Kalayi and  had reportedly even led volunteers to fill potholes of the Kalayi road upon realising that motorists were  at risk while using the road.
