SDPI demands Rs 25 lakh compensation for victims of Ullal attack

Mangaluru May 2, 2016: SDPI Vice President Athavulla Jokatte has demanded compensation of Rs 25 lakh each to the families of Safwan as well as fisherman Raju Kotian who  lost their lives in the attacks in Ullal.

 Addressing the Press at SDPI Office on Monday, he alleged that elected representatives from the district as well as the district administration have maintained a silence regarding the series of attacks in Ullal. The incidents have created a fear in the minds of the people, he added.

In the recent years Ullal is turning out to be a communally sensitive and ganja smuggling area, he alleged and urged the police to initiate necessary remedial measures.

The organisation has also demanded the arrest of the accused in  all six attacks at Ullal so far. Police need to take strict action so that such attacks  do not recur, he said.

Athavulla criticised State  Health Minister UT Khader, Deputy Commissioner  AB Ibrahim and District in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai for not visiting the residence of  the victims to pay their condolences.
