SDPI activist murdered in Kasargod ; bandh call today

 Kasargod, Dec 23, 2014 :  An activist of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) was brutally murdered by a gang of assailants  near Chakkar Bazaar in the town on December 22, Monday night.

The SDPI has given a call for a district bundh on December 23, Tuesday in protest against the killing.

The deceased is Zainul Abid (24) hailing  from Talangere Kunnil. The  murder took place at around 9.30 pm when the assailants barged into the  shop owned by Abid’s father in Chakkar Bazaar even as Abid was getting ready to leave home.

By the time the nearby shopkeepers rushed to the shop on hearing Abid’s screams,the assailants had   fled the place after attacking him.

 Abid was later shifted to a  local hospital and then to a hospital in Mangaluru where he  died during the wee hours of Tuesday.

The police have launched a dragnet to search the assailants. Meanwhile security has been beefed up in the town to avert any other untoward incident.
