Mangaluru Taluk Panchayat has proposed to allocate sites to the beneficiaries, belonging to SC/ST communities, on a five-acre DC (Depressed Classes)

Chairing a SC/ST grievance redressal meeting at Mini Vidhana Soudha, on Monday, he said that around 104 acres of DC manna land was identified in various parts of Mangaluru taluk, including Konaje, Pavoor, Manjanady, Marakada, Kenjaru, Badagaekkaru, Tenkaekkaru, Madhya, Tenkaulipadi, Mulki and Thokuru, to be allocated to beneficiaries, belonging to the SC/ST communities.

Encroachments   :  “However, the encroachments in these lands need to be cleared before allocating the sites to the beneficiaries. Among the applicants, preference would be given to the applicants from the same village. The next preference will be given to the applicants from the hobli,” he said.

In Chelairu and Kenjaru, the DC manna lands have already been handed over to the respective Gram Panchayats to be allocated to the beneficiaries, he said.

Guruprasad, further, said that those who have not applied for DC manna lands may apply under Form 53 before March 2019.

Leaders from the SC/ST communities, who took part in the meet, said that the residential project in Shaktinagar under which sites were earmarked for houseless people, belonging to SC/ST, was a hoax played on the beneficiaries.

No meeting in MCC :  No work has been taken up after performing the ground-breaking. The RTCs were handed over to the eligible beneficiaries.

The members, meanwhile, blamed the lackadaisical attitude of Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Mohammed Nazir and said that the MCC had been ignoring the welfare of SC/ST communities. The SC/ST grievance meeting hasn’t been held in MCC for the past one year, they added.
