SC/ST associations stage protest demanding Special Land Revenue Act

Mangaluru, Nov 17, 2014 : Members of the scheduled castes and tribes, under the aegis of various organizations including the SC/ST Citizens’ Rights Protection Committee  took out a rally from Jyothi Circle to DC office and later staged a demonstration on November 17, Monday  in support of their demand for   implementation of a Special Land Revenue Act for the SC/STs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

One of the SC/ST leaders RC Kembare who addressed the protestors alleged that land meant for the Scheduled castes and scheduled tribes are being allotted to corporates. There is a need for the Dalits to  fight for their rights to live a life of dignity, he said.

Several leaders including Ramesh Bogi, Somanath Rai and others participated in the protest. The agitators later handed over a memorandum enlisting their demand to the Deputy Commissioner.
