Russian devotee’s book on Ganesha released at Shri Krishna Mutt

Udupi, Dec 14, 2011 : A book on Lord Ganesha, written by the Russia-born Gadadhara Pandita Dasa (40), was released at a special ceremony held on Dec 13 Tuesday, at Shri Krishna Mutt, by Shri Lakshmivara Teertha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt.

Dasa, who became associated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) even before he turned 20, has written five books on the teachings of Lord Krishna.

He was a soldier in Russia for a few years before he arrived at Brindavan, North India. Taking a keen interest in Sanskrit literature, he studied the Vedas and other Indian scriptures. He translated Dwadasha Stotra by Madhwacharya into Russia as well as English. He has also translated Madhwacharya’s Krishnamrita Maharnava, Sumadhwa Vijaya by Shri Narayana Panditacharya, and Roupyapeetha Krishna Stuthi by Shri Vadiraja into Russian. Besides, he has translated several of Shri Vadiraja’s Sanskrit hymns into Russian.

Recently, he studied all the 18 puranas and wrote a book on the glory of Lord Ganapathi in Russian and English.

Having spent some time in the Mangalore centre of ISKCON, Dasa is now in Russia. He married a blind woman 8 years back and continues writing books. He renamed his wife Krishnapriya after marriage. His wife has the gift of healing ailments through the therapy of rubbing different parts of the body.


When asked about his interest in Indian culture, he said that he got interested after becoming a member of ISKCON. He says that he is especially interested in the teachings of Madhwacharya.
