Mangaluru, Mar 27, 2016: DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai has said that a sum of Rs 35 crore has been set aside to ensure there is no water problem in the district during summer.
Addressing a meeting held at the DC office on March 26 to discuss water problems during summer, the minister also stated that steps would be taken to dig a borewell in rural areas at a cost of Rs 50 lakh to mitigate water problem. He also made it clear that there was no fund shortage to initiate measures to solve water woes.
On the sand shortage issue, the Minister said requisite permission has been granted to extract sand from non-CRZ blocks. With regard to sand blocks in CRZ areas, he said the same needs the approval of Ministry of Environment and Forests. The blocks would be put up for auction by April 15, he added.
