Rubber grower found dead near Uppinangadi

Mangaluru, March 05, 2016:  As per reliable reports, a 60-year-old farmer, said to be depressed due to the crash in rubber prices, was found dead at his house in Nellyadi in Uppinangady police limits.

deadThe Uppinangady police said V.S. Joy alias Pathros was staying alone in the house in Paddadka in Nellyadi. He had grown rubber on his two-acre farm near his house. The police said Joy had been to his daughter’s house in Gundia a few days ago and had expressed his unhappiness over the crash in rubber prices.

Joy’s neighbour came to the house to call him for tea. He then opened a window of the house to see Joy dead. The police said Joy died after consuming a poisonous substance.

The police said Joy’s depression due to crash in rubber prices had been mentioned by his son-in-law in a complaint. The police said there were reports of Joy taking loan from moneylenders, which was being inquired into. Puttur Assistant Commissioner K.V. Rajendra said Joy was not a farmer as he did not  have any land in his name. The land on which he grew rubber in Belthangady was not in his name. AC Rajendra said he had not taken crop loan.
