Rs 50 cr sought for laying underground electricity cables : Lobo

Mangaluru, Sep 30, 2017: J R Lobo, MLA of Mangaluru South has said that  a sum of Rs 50 crore  grant is sought towards laying of underground cables  with a view to ensure safety and to prevent electricity cables from dangling.


JRLoboAddressing a MESCOM Advisory Commitee meeting of Mangaluru South Assembly constituency unit at his office here, the MLA said  the task of laying underground cables from A B Shetty Circle to Karavali Circle at Kankanady on an experimental basis  at a cost of Rs 10 crore is almost complete. Efforts woud be made to complete the works at the earliest and get it inaugurated by the Energy Minister, Lobo informed.

MESCOM officials present at the meeting informed that  as many as 719 modern boxes costing Rs 12 lakhs are to be purchased to facilitate switching on and switching off street lights. Tenders for the same have been invited, he added.

MESCOM Executive Engineer Manjappa, Advisory Committee Members Mohan Mendon, Durga Prasad and others were present.
