Rs. 2-crore modern gym for Udupi soon, Minister

Udupi, Mar 26, 2017: Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of State for Fisheries, Youth Services and Sports, said on March 25, Saturday that a state-of-the-art gym would be established here at a cost of Rs. 2 crore.


Pramod MadhwarajHe was speaking after inaugurating a district-level youth convention, organised by the Nehru Yuva Kendra and other oganisations, at Tenkanidiyur Gram Panchayat Hall, here on Saturday.

Mr. Madhwaraj said that the State government had proposed to start four modern gyms in different places which included Udupi.

These gyms would have modern equipments which were used in the Western countries. People will be allowed to use these gyms at a very low cost.

The State budget had also provided Rs. 1 crore each for a Women Sports Hostel and District Swimming Pool in Udupi. A new playground will constructed at Nejar near Brahmavar, he said.

Sheela K. Shetty, vice-president of Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Jacintha D’Souza, convener of Nehru Yuva Kendra, and others were present at the event.
