Rousing reception for Kashi mutt seer in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Feb 14, 2016: Shrimad Samyamindra Theertha Swami, the head of Kashi Mutt Samsthanam, was given a grand welcome on Feb 13, Saturday, during his visit to Mangaluru for the first time after ascending the peeta of the Samsthanam.

The seer was taken in a palanquin from Car Street to Venktramana temple. Yakshagana dolls, mangalavadya, ’Chamaraseve’ were part of the attractive procession.

As the movement of vehicles were banned in Car Street, devotees thronged on either side of the road, to catch a glimpse of the seer.

Three palanquins were taken out in a procession on the occasion. The first palanquin had the photo of the presiding deity, the second photo had the photo of late seer Sri Sudheendra Theertha Swami and third palanquin carried seer Samyamindra Theertha Swami.

Devotees offered arathi and garlands to the seer amidst the cries of ’Gurumaharajki Jai...’

The footfalls in Car street will be the highest today Feb 14, Sunday, when the temple chariot will be drawn. The car festival will culminate on Monday with the traditional ’okkuli’ (holi). The entire temple and the main Car Street has been illuminated for the occasion.
