Mangaluru, Mar 10, 2015: Several students of Rosario College in the city boycotted classes and staged a protest outside the Bunder police station on March 10, Tuesday demanding action against a KSRTC bus conductor who they alleged had assaulted their college mate.
The protest was withdrawn after the police assured action against the accused conductor. According to the students, Samad from Uppinangady, a first year B.Com student of the college was assaulted by a conductor named Murugesh from Bagalkot who worked in the Uppinangady-State Bank KSRTC bus.
The students said the conductor assaulted Samad just because he objected to the act of the conductor who signalled the driver to start the bus even before two girls could board the bus.
Many even alleged that there have been several earlier occasions when the conductor abused students.
The injured student Samad who was hospitalised following the attack later lodged a complaint with the Bunder police. On the other hand, the accused conductor too got admitted to Wenlock Hospital alleging that some students had assaulted him with blades.
Investigations are underway.
