Rons Bantwal, Astro Mohan among 34 Madhyama Academy Award winners

Mangaluru, April 8, 2015: Rons Bantwal, a Mumbai based eminent journalist having his roots in  Bantwal of Dakshina Kannada district and Astro Mohan, Udupi based photo journalist associated with Udayavani, are among the 34 achievers in the field of journalism who have been chosen for the prestigious Madhyama Academy Award for the year 2014.

The Award carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000 apart from  a citation. The Award presentation ceremony will be held  at the Banquet Hall of the Vidhana Saudha on April 16. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will confer the Awards.

 

Rons Bantwal  who is presently the Mumbai Correspondent of dailies associated with Vijaya Karnataka is also the  Maharashtra Bureau Chief of various web portals including mangaloretoday.com. He has the experience of working  for various dailies, weeklies and monthlies. A civil engineering graduate, Rons Bantwal began his stint in journalism in Mumbai as a cartoonist and was later associated with Raknno Konkani weekly and  was the Mumbai Chief of Bureau of Janavahini.

Also a good social worker, Rons Bantwal is also the recipient of a number of Awards including Konkani Excellence Award and Patrakar Ratna Award.
