Robbers steal silver and cash from Panchalingeshwara Temple

Puttur May 10, 2016: Robbers steal silver ornaments and cash from offering box from Shri Panchalingeshwara temple in Eshwaramangala on May 8th. Stolen items were worth nearly Rs. 3.5 lakh.

They stole three offering boxes and got in to Bhandara room of Poomaani-Kinnimaani Daiva and took away bow, arrow and sword made up of silver. temple falls under Muzrai department and renovated two years ago for Brahmakalashotsava.


It is said that main door was covered with 10kgs of silver but the robbers managed to take only 3kgs of silver.


The administration of the temple had installed three CC cameras, two inside and one in the outside of the temple. But the two cameras installed inside the temple were not working since three months, police have taken the CC camera for investigation.


Administrative officer of temple, Sunil had filed a complaint in Sampya police station.

Additional SP Vincent Shantakumar, ASP Rishyant, Puttur rural police station inspector Anil S Kulakarni, Sampya in charge SI Cheluvaiah visited the spot.


police have detained two Hindi speaking persons on suspicion from Eshwaramangala bus stand.
