Roads AROUND Mangaluru Central, Junction stations, to be spruced up

Mangaluru, Dec 24, 2016:  It is reliably reported that the work on approach roads to Mangaluru Central and Junction Railway Stations will be taken up at a cost of Rs 25 lakh and Rs 15 lakh respectively, said authorities of the Southern Railways.  Apart from working on the roads, the parking lot at Mangaluru Central would also be redone with paver blocks at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh.

Further, Southern Railway had also shifted the general parking lot to a spacious place on the left side of the station. Sources say that tenders would be invited and all work would be completed before the rains.

In the meantime, DK DC Dr K G Jagadeesha promised all assistance to Southern Railway with regard to the doubling of tracks on the Mangaluru Junction-Panambur line near Jokatte. Further, as demanded by locals, the Railways will also have to construct a retaining wall and an approach road to a few houses in the area. There also has been a demand for constructing a road over bridge at the level crossing.
