Rising Dengue cases: Health Minister visits Bantwal PHC

Bantwal, June 17, 2015 :  State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader  on June 16, Tuesday visited the Primary Health Centre at Bantwal in the backdrop of reports of rise in dengue cases in the taluk.

The Minister who took stock of the situation even held a meeting with the medical officers, Panchayat Development officers and ASHA workers.

He instructed the Bantwal PHC staff to even work on Sundays  to ensure that Dengue patients get timely treatment.

The Minister also directed the Department of Health, Rural Development  and other local organisations to work in close co-ordination to tackle the problem.

So far nearly 62 cases of Dengue have been reported while there has been no fresh case of Malaria in the recent past.  Healso stated that 53 suspected Dengue cases were treated in different hospitals.

Dr Ramakrishna  Rao, District Health Officer, directed  medical officers to visit different PHCs to  have a first hand account of the situation. Hotels were also advised to supply hot water to the customers.
