Riding with Hope: Cancer survivor spreads message of hope on wheels

Mangaluru, July 8, 2016: Harteij Bharatesh is a man on a mission. Having battled cancer for almost four years, the 26-year-old is touring India on his two-wheeler to create awareness about the draconian disease.

He embarked on the solo ride on May 1, 2016 and aims to clock 30,000km in five months. Starting the journey on his Kawasaki Ninja 300 from Raipur in Chhatisgarh on his Kawasaki Ninja 300, he reached Mangaluru on July 7 evening. Through his campaign Ride of Hope, he wants to tell people that cancer can be conquered.

Harteij’s story is every bit that of a hero. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when he was still in the fourth year of law course. He was diagnosed with third-stage cancer after undergoing a biopsy in Hyderabad. He initially tried to avoid chemotherapy and for alternative medicines but only to realise that, it was a wrong decision. 

After four years of treatment and chemotherapy, this is the first time he has stepped out of explore the beautiful country. He makes it a point to visit cancer centers and speak to the patients. He wants to give them hope and share his story and fight against cancer. One of the first things he suggests and conveys to patients is the importance of right and early treatment.

He embarked on the solo ride on May 1, 2016 and aims to clock 30,000km in five months. Starting the journey on his Kawasaki Ninja 300 from Raipur in Chhattisgarh on his Kawasaki Ninja 300, he has completed 10,000 kilometers, riding through different states including Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. A big salute to the brave heart for such an initiative.
