Mangaluru, June 25, 2018: State Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader has said that the District in-charge Secretary and Deputy Commissioner have been instructed to submit a report on the problems faced by the general public with regard to land conversion and other works during house construction.
He was speaking to reporters after a meeting with elected representatives and high level officers at the KUIDFC office at Mallikatte on June 25, Monday.
The officials will discuss several technical problems faced by the Revenue Department and the report would be submitted within three days, he added.
Khader said every effort would be made to develop Mangaluru into a model smart city and the responsibility of implementing this project will be on the Managing Director, he said adding the MD of Smart City Project who will be holding a review meeting once in 15 days.
He also stated that the authorities were contemplating repair of roads linking the city via highways. The Jeppinamogaru-uMorgansgate road would be converted into a four lane or six lane from Thokkottu onwards, he said and added that an appeal would be made to the Railways to provide grant on a 50:50 ratio.
On the rumours that fish sold in the market is laced with chemicals to make them look fresh, the minister said the authorities would be instructed to look into the matter.
District in-charge Secretary Ponnuraj, KUIDFC Managing Director Ibrahim, Mayor Bhasker Moily, Legislators Vedavyas Kamath, Bharath Shetty, MLC Ivan D’Souza and others were present.
