Respect history to create history: Khader

Mangaluru, June 28, 2019: Speaking during the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti programme, organised jointly by district administration, Zilla Panchayat, Kannada Cultural Department and Vokkaliga Gowda Seva Sangha-Mangaluru, at Ravindra Kala Bhavan in University College June 27, Thursday; DK District In-charge Minister U T Khader said, “It is a must to make all efforts to create history. Anyone from any profession must seek to create history. By creating a history, we can build a better country. But only creating history is not enough. It is important to respect history, for only one who respects history can create it, just like Kempegowda.”
The Karnataka government gives a lot of importance towards Kempegowda Jayanti. Kempegowda was not only the builder of Bengaluru, but vested interests are ever active to distort local historical facts and mislead ordinary people. The researchers and writers of true history are often ignored. Similarly, very indifferent attitude to historic monuments and matters is a troubling issue and needs immediate attention.
He further stressed that Jayantis were celebrated to unify all castes. Therefore, people of all castes should participate and involve in celebrating all Jayantis.
Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said, “Kempegowda’s era is an era of history written in golden words. The question of the hour is whether or not we will be able to save this history and tradition bestowed upon us.”
Kalkura said it was important to accommodate older systems as new ones come through and the faults and follies of the older systems must be addressed by the administration.
“The way Bengaluru was built with its forts, markets, temples and even its exceptional drainage system must be studied. The water and drainage system was much more organised and sustainable than the current concrete jungle and the problems we are facing. This reflects the vision and intelligence of the past generations.”
Parliament Secretary to Chief Minister Ivan D’Souza, Writer Aravind Chokkadi among others were present.
