Relief for the commuters as KSRTC resume service

Mangaluru, July 28, 2016: Smiles are sure to be back on the faces of regular commuters in the DK district - KSRTC buses are set to resume services and is said to be official as already reported.

 

KSRTCSpeaking to media KSRTC Division Controller Vivekananda Hegde said the drivers and conductors have started reporting for duty.  "Considering the long waiting lists and ques, buses from Mangaluru will operate today July 28, in fact some resumed last night itself, " he added.

Postal services down : The services of Postal Department was affected in Sullia taluk. Normally, all the postal bags are transported through KSRTC buses.    Without the bus services, the postal bags remained in the post office. At the same time, parcels from outside the taluk have failed to reach receivers. Without any alternative, even speed post service was affected.

The services of RMS, Railway Mail Service vehicle from Puttur was extended to Sullia on Tuesday. The postal employees from rural areas had to get the postal bags to Sullia post office. As RMS vehicle failed to reach Sullia on the service was affected.

It is evident that  private operators encashed the KSRTC bus strike. All the private buses from Sullia to Bengaluru were booked. The commuters accused the maxicabs and vans of collecting hefty fares from Sullia to Puttur. A majority of the stalls in the bus stand at Sullia remained closed.
