Release of murder accused without bail : Assistant jailer’s increment with held

Mangaluru, July 17, 2019: The recent faux pas by  the staff of the  district prison in Mangaluru wherein two murder accused  were let off after mistaking the court  notices  on the two as bail order, has  led to the withholding of the  annual increment of the assistant jailer.

The  Superintendent of the Shivamogga Central Prison under whose jurisdiction the district prison comes, had  sought a report on the incident and on the basis of the report the punishment has been given, The release order of the two accused was signed by the superintendent and the jailer.

Meanwhile two others who are also responsible for this faux pas have escaped without punishment as they are on probation.
