Records set ablaze at Laila Panchayath Office

Belthangady May 26, 2016: In a tragic incident occurred in which several files, documents and computers set ablaze after fire suddenly started burning in Laila Gram Panchayath in the early hours on May 25.

 	Fire Some neighbors witness heavy smoke comes out from the gram panchayath at 6am and informed Vice president and other officials. Thereafter fire tenders rushed to the spot and took over the work of extinguishing the fire. Due to the fire eruption several documents and files turned to ashes in the computer room.

There has speculation of mischief behind this tragedy as audit of accounts pertaining to the last two years was scheduled to be held in this gram panchayath.

Zilla Panchayath deputy secretary Umesh and other officials visited the spot for the inspection. It is said that a person from Laila named Nagraj filed a complaint with the police station here, alleging that fire was purposely ignited with the specific intension of destroying records.
