He was speaking as a chief guest at the Sandesha Award presentation ceremony organised by the Sandesha Cultural and Education Foundation at Bajjody on January 13, Saturday evening. Rev. Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Ballary presided over the function.
A total of seven eminent men received the Sandesha Awards on the occasion. Sandesha Literature Award was conferred on Dr Giraddi Govindaraju, Sandesha Konkani Literature award on Edwin Marian Netto, Sandesha Art Award on Ashok Gudigara, Sandesha Media award on N Gururaj, Sandesha education award on K Gaadhilingappa, Sandesha Konkani Music award on Wilson Olivera and Sandesha Special Recognition Award on T Raja.
The Awards carry a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a citation. Vicar General of Mangaluru Diocese Fr Dennis Moras Prabhu, Fr Victory Vijay, Director of Sandesha Kala Kendra, Br Victor Crasta, Assistant Director of Sandesha Kala Kendra, MLA J R Lobo and others were present.
