Mangaluru, Nov 15 2015:  Senior Congress leader  B Janardhana Poojary has described the recent bundh observed in the district to condemn the  murder of a youth in BC Road and other disturbances in the aftermath of Tipu Jayanthi, as a forcible bundh.

Speaking to reporters here on November 14, Saturday, Poojary  referred to a Supreme Court ruling on bundh  and questioned why Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Law Minister T.B. Jayachandra have not initiated any action against those who gave a call for a bundh.

On the opposition expressed to Tipu Jayanthi by the BJP, Poojary said  it is advisable  for the BJP to defeat the Congress in the net election and then ban Tipu Jayanthi once they come to power. " If the Prime Minister in his London speech has called for peace and development, the Hindu organisations here are  doing something else," he said.

On the Bihar defeat, Poojary said the Prime Minister has to learn a lesson from it. He was also critical of  Jnanpeeth Award winning writer Girish Karnad for his recent controversial statement. At the same time he said the Sangh Parivar was trying to blow up the issue even after Karnad apologised.

He further accused the BJP and Sangh Parivar of trying to twist facts pertaining to history regarding Tipu Sultan.

Regarding the recent murder of a youth named Harish near BC Road, Poojary said the BJP was falsely claimed that he was a party worker while actually he was not involved in any party. The youth hailed from a poor family. His father is a cancer patient, while mother is suffering from asthma, Poojary said and added that the family needed financial help.

He also urged DK District in-charge Minister to ensure that people who instigate communal harmony were subject to the strictest of punishment.

Purushottam, Deputy Mayor, Mahabala Maarla, former mayor, Harikrishna Bantwal and others were present at the press meet.
