Ramanatha Rai to get home portfolio?

Mangaluru, July 23, 2017: Will DK in-charge Minister and State Minister for Forests B Ramanatha Rai be the next Home Minister? Well, if recent developments are of any indication, Rai may  get the vital portfolio very soon.  Ever since G Parameshwar resigned as Home Minister after he was  made to continue as KPCC Chief, the  portfolio is being managed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself.

Though Siddaramaiah wanted to hand over the portfolio to KJ George who had once earlier held the post and is now the Minister for Bengaluru development, the  latter has reportedly declined the offer.

Sources now indicate that the party high command had contacted Rai on this issue  but Rai who has not immediately agreed has assured to consider the suggestion.

Rai has once earlier served as Home Minister during the Chief Ministership of Veerappa Moily. If Rai is made Home Minister he will have a good chance to effectively rein in communal elements that are creating disturbances  in his home district.
