Ramanath Rai releases Congress Manifesto for Panchayath Elections

Mangalore Feb 15, 2016: The Congress manifesto for the forthcoming Zilla Panchayath and Taluk Panchayath elections, was released by District in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai at the Congress Party office on Feb 15, Monday.

Speaking to the press on the occasion, Rai said that the manifesto enlists the  development schemes which  the Congress plans to implement if elected to power. Even the Panchayath Raj system needs to be strengthened, he said.

 If highly beneficial programmes like  Sarvashiksha Abhiyaana and MNREGA scheme were implemented during the  UPA tenure, the present  BJP government is only giving fake promises which has disillusioned people, he alleged.

 He also said that if elected the party would ensure that all rural households have toilets and  solar facility apart from cooking gas connections.

 The Congress has selected deserving candidates, he said and added that the party was confident of gaining an upper hand in the elections.

Interim President of DK Congress Ibrahim Kodijaal, MLC Ivan D’Souza, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde, District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai and others were present.
